Join us for a teach-in event with Dr. Lyda Harris, a marine biologist who has spent more than a decade studying and tackling marine debris and plastic pollution–from local waters in Washington to coastal communities in Baja Mexico. She has led research projects, organized cleanup efforts, and built partnerships that connect science with communities to keep plastic out of the ocean. Today, she brings that same passion to her work in corporate and municipal sustainability, focusing on upstream solutions that prevent plastic from becoming marine pollution in the first place.
Dr. Harris earned her PhD in Biology at the University of Washington, with a concentration in Public Policy at the Evans School. Her leadership has been recognized with Boeing’s Environmental and Sustainability Leadership Award and the Starbucks OL Reign Legend Award for Environmental Leadership.
This event will be hosted at Obec Brewing, which welcomes dogs of all ages (humans must be 21+). Beer, wine, and non-alcoholic options will be available, with food trucks onsite or nearby.
Seattle’s Stand Up for Science team will also be on hand with simple, actionable ways to contact your representatives and stand up for science.
Please don't forget to invite your friends, family and colleagues if they’re as ready as you are to stand up and fight back for the institutions of American science and health!
See you soon!
